If you haven’t heard, its engagement season!  The holidays and the New Year bring out everyone’s romantic side, so questions are popped and happy couples start to celebrate!  We wish all of you newly engaged couples a very happy and healthy 2012 (and happy planning!).

Jamie & Alex have one of those great stories, the kind of story that makes you sigh…

Jamie was caught in the rain without an umbrella, Alex, being the gentleman that he is, offered his.  They chatted on a corner in Hoboken for a short time, and when she had to leave Alex offered to let her take the umbrella…  She declined, and that was it. She was gone.  Alex admitted later, he wanted to ask her out, but he didn’t want her to think that the only reason he offered his umbrella (how sweet!).

The very next night they were out with their respective groups of friends and it just so happened they ended up at the same place.  And they’ve been together ever since.

Fate!  I just love fate!

We just had to bring out the umbrella (good thing we keep them in the car at all times!)

It was a freezing day, but Alex & Jamie made the best of it and cuddled up to keep warm – so worth it!  This park/pier overlooking the New York City skyline was amazing.

My new favorite place is Lackawanna Train Station – wow.  Paul and I have shot in Hoboken many, many times, but we somehow never made it here.  It is now a required location if we are photographing anyone within a 25 mile radius (ok, a slight exaggeration, but worth a try).

Very fun couple – and so cute!

One of Paul’s sweet shots…

And another….

And another! My husband knows good light when he sees it!  That is what I love about shooting with him, we can both be shooting the same couple, and get two completely different results.

Jamie and Alex also came to us as a referral from another wonderful couple of ours, Rebecca and Kevin (you might remember their wedding at the gorgeous Mallard Island Yacht Club).  We can’t wait for Alex & Jamie’s big day!

With love,
Laura & Paul

These are great shots! I just think they are so cute together and what a wonderful story! It was fate!! Thanks for sharing.

Words can’t event describe Erin & Matt’s wedding – so this is probably something I should do (much) more often – I’ll let the images do the talking…  Ok, most of the talking – but I promise, I’ll keep it short & sweet when I do.

How gorgeous are they?

Beautiful Blooms just blew us away with the flowers & details…  (We could do an entire blog post just on their work, and we basically will in our next post!)

The amazing thing about One Atlantic is the incredible variety of backdrops – there are stunning panoramic views of the sea and the Atlantic City skyline, and even The Pier at Ceasars can provide a gorgeous colorful setting…

We loved using these windows as a blank canvas.

(Keep going in this post, and you’ll see how we brought in the light and background in with our other images).

So Erin & Matt’s wedding day didn’t start off with the best weather, but it definitely got better with this sunset….

And then it got better…

And even better still…

Ok, you are getting the idea at this point…

Oh, and then we found a rainbow on the other side of the building (because, you know, that sunset wasn’t really enough).

Our next post will show all of their gorgeous details and stunning reception… Thanks for stopping by!

With love,
Laura & Paul

We are so happy to share that our images from Chrissy & Joe’s Cape May, New Jersey wedding have been featured on Style Me Pretty!

We had the pleasure of working with Alicia Nathanson of Blossom Productions, who is a member of Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book – her films are amazing – as you can see in the trailer featured on the site.

We had such a great team to work with that day, including wedding & event designers Proud to Plan, Manic Botanic (who does the most stunning and inventive florals!), The Grand Hotel, and Pink Cake Box (you MUST see the gorgeous cake they created for Chrissy and Joe – it is pure art!)

Something really magical happens when you pull together people who really care about their art.  Sheela & George selected some of Philadelphia’s best to create their beautiful day.  Starting with the talents of planner Sheila Corbett and the artistry of makeup artists Beke Beau and hair by Bella Angel – and ending with the gorgeous work of Eventricity and the epic ballroom at the Franklin Institute.  And as much as we feel privileged to work in such great company, we were even more honored that Sheela & George chose us to document their most important day.

That cake is awesome! Love the colors in all of these shots. Looks like it was a brilliant wedding.

Jacqui was not only a stunning bride but she kicked off a trend we saw throughout this whole wedding season… awesome colored shoes!

In our eight years of wedding photography we’ve seen a lot of trends come and go. Some should remain gone, but one we hope sticks, is ditching the traditional wedding shoe. We know not everyone has a grandma that could take her granddaughter in anything but a white gown (we’ve had red gowns) so when we see a bright colored shoe (or that signature red Louboutin sole) popping out from under that dress, we love it!

Jacqui and John got some great shots at the Water Works behind the Philadelphia Art Museum, and then we headed over to the Doubletree Hotel for their reception.
